Boxes Box tape dimensions are inside dimensions and stated in the (L x W x H) packaging sequence. Length (L) is the larger of the two dimensions. (L x W) is the measurement for the open top of the box. Width (W) is the smaller dimensions of the open top. The height (H) or depth is the dimension that measures the inside height video or depth of the box. Packaging Supplies Company''s stocks RSC type containers. RSC (Regular Slotted Containers) means that all flaps are the same lengths in the height (H) direction and the length (L) side flaps meet in the center of the box when folded in the closed position. Packaging Tips Select a box that is strong enough to protect the contents. Leave space for cushioning inside tape the carton. Cushion package contents with shredded or rolled newspaper, bubble wrap, or Styrofoam peanuts. Plain air-popped packaging popcorn is also good for cushioning; it''s inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Pack tightly to avoid shifting. Always use tape that is designed for shipping, such as pressure-sensitive video and tape tape, nylon-reinforced kraft paper tape, or glass-reinforced pressure-sensitive tape. Do not use wrapping paper, string, masking tape, or cellophane tape. Put the delivery and return addresses on one side packaging only of the package. Suggestion: Place a return address label inside the video package. Stuff glass and fragile hollow items, like vases, with newspaper or packing material to avoid damage due to shock. When mailing framed photographs, take the glass out of the frame and wrap it separately. Remove batteries from toys. Wrap and place tape them next to the toys in the mailing box. Take packages that weigh at least 1 pound into the packaging post office for mailing. Publication 2, Packaging for Mailing, and Publication 227, Preparing Packages for Mailing, contain more tips and are available video free from your post office. tape Obtain Express Mail and Priority Mail boxes, envelopes, and tubesPurchase packaging products, including tape, envelopes, padded bags, boxes, mailing tubes, and cushioning packaging material, from your post office. Some locations offer decorative video boxes and expander packs that are suitable for mailing gifts. Length divided by height is less than 1.3 or more than tape 2.5 inches. A surcharge, in addition to the applicable postage and fees, is applied to each piece of nonstandard size mail for two reasons: it compensates the Postal Service for the added cost of manually handling nonstandard mail, and it promotes the packaging design and use of mail that can be processed mechanically. Polyester video is the most rigid of all strapping materials. It elongates significantly less than polypropylene and retains tension over a longer period. Polyester is nick resistant and can be sealed with seals, heat or friction welds. tape Because polyester offers the greatest strength and highest retained tension of all plastic strapping, it is frequently used on heavy duty loads that need high initial tension along with high retained tension during handling and storage. Common applications packaging are empty cans and bottles, lumber and heavy, rigid palletizing. Polyester has a smooth, shiny video finish and is easy to dispose of and recycle.Polypropylene strapping is the most tape commonly used and least expensive packaging of all strapping materials. It is light and easy to apply and recycle. Characteristics include high elongation and elongation recovery, but low retained tension. Polypropylene is an excellent choice for light duty palletizing, unitizing, carton closing video and bundling. Because tape of its embossing (or waffle) pattern, strap thickness is not a useful measurement. A standard 1/2" machine grade strap can be embossed to a thickness of anywhere between .014 and .030, depending upon how deep the embossing pattern is. An overly embossed strap will be thicker, but will have a lower break strength. Carton Reinforcement: packaging A 3:1 ratio video of strap to carton weight is recommended. For a 100 lb package this could be done with (1) 300lb tensile strap or (2) 150lb straps. Unitizing and Bundling: tape A 5:1 ration of strap to carton weight is recommended. Palletized Cases: Required Tensile Strength = (Pallet Weight x 1.5) / # packaging of Straps ©2003 www.mailer-packaging-supply.com. All rights reserved. |
